$400M spent on Agenda 111, yet no hospital operational – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that a staggering $400 million was spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project under the previous administration, yet not a single hospital is fully operational. This shocking disclosure was made during his maiden State of the Nation Address in his second term before Parliament.

Agenda 111, an ambitious healthcare initiative, aimed to construct 111 hospitals nationwide to bridge Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure gap. However, despite the significant financial investment, the project has failed to deliver any operational hospitals.

President Mahama pointed out that the $400 million spent could have completed and operationalized at least 22 hospitals if resources had been utilized efficiently. This raises serious concerns about the management and allocation of funds for this critical project.

“It is worth disclosing that USD400m has already been disbursed under agenda 111 project,” President Mahama said, indicating that yet not a single hospital under this gargantuan initiative is serving the people of Ghana.

Ghana’s economic challenges, including a high public debt of $721 billion and a fiscal deficit, make it essential to optimize resource utilization and ensure transparency in project management. The government’s ability to effectively manage projects like Agenda 111 will be crucial in addressing the country’s healthcare needs and promoting economic growth.
