Former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led a powerful NPP delegation to Koforidua in the Eastern Region for the final funeral rites of the late Elder Emmanuel Maxwell Acquah, father of the Takoradi Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justice Maxwell Acquah.
Thousands of mourners mobbed the former vice President and his delegation when news went around that he had arrived.

Other dignitaries present at the event included the Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove, Obrempong Hima Dekyi; Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah; former MP for Effia, Joseph Cudjoe; former MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer former MP for Mpohor, John Sanni, former MP for Akrofuom Alex Blankson and former MP for Sekondi Tarkwa Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker and former National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay.
Also in attendance were Western Regional NPP Chairman Francis Ndede Siah, former Executive Director of GNPC Foundation Dominic Eduah, 2024 NPP Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party Opare Ansah, former CEO of PMMC Nana Awuah, former NIB MD Alfred Thompson, former AMA Mayor Adjei Sowah, and CEO of Joy Industries.

After the burial ceremony, members of the Supreme Masqueraders Club from Takoradi, accompanied by a brass band, took to the streets and headed to the funeral grounds, where they displayed their dancing skills to honor their Patron, Chairman Basty.
Individuals who had not seen the masqueraders joined in dancing while others also learned their way of dancing.
Deaconess Abokoma, a Content Creator on social media also shared his humor.
The stage was set on fire when Kofi Kinaata, grabbed the microphone to display his musical talent.
Indeed the West was truly in the East on April 5th, 2025. Chairman Basty expressed gratitude for the massive show of love and support, saying, “Family is not about blood. It’s about who will hold your hand when you most need it.”
