NPP Grassroots members demand action against Ernest Owusu Bempah

“Unfortunately, we have observed with grave disappointment that this directive is being blatantly violated. A clear example is Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy National Communications Director and a government appointee under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Grassroots members and polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed deep concern over recent developments within the party that threaten its unity, discipline, and progress ahead of the 2028 elections.

In a release signed by the public relations officer for the Concerned Grassroots members and Polling Station Executives of the NPP, Samuel Dwomoh Frimpong the group indicated that despite a directive from the National Executives to refrain from engaging the media on internal party matters, Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy National Communications Director, has continued to make divisive and disrespectful remarks targeting the 2024 Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“It will be recalled that a directive was recently issued by the National Executives of our great party, signed by the General Secretary, instructing all party members, including national executives, appointees, and grassroots members, to refrain from engaging the media on internal party matters. This directive came in the wake of public utterances by Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Nana Poku, and many more, which brought disrepute to the party and affected internal cohesion”

“Unfortunately, we have observed with grave disappointment that this directive is being blatantly violated. A clear example is Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy National Communications Director and a government appointee under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He has continually made divisive and disrespectful remarks in the media, specifically targeting our 2024 Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia”, part of the statement indicated.

The concerned members are demanding the National Executives to take immediate action, including a formal communique condemning Owusu Bempah’s comments within 24 hours.

“That the party leadership publicly distances itself from his statements and takes immediate disciplinary action to serve as a deterrent. That the earlier directive barring all party members from engaging the media on internal matters be reaffirmed and strictly enforced across all levels of the party structure. That the party ensures that no member or appointee engages in unauthorized campaigns or public endorsements until such time that the party officially gives the green light for campaign activities”, the statement added.

“The grassroots members of the party warn that failure to act on the matter will lead to them exercising their right to speak freely and defend the party’s integrity in the media. They emphasize that discipline, fairness, and unity must be upheld at all times to maintain the party’s collective efforts.

This party belongs to all of us, and we will not sit by and watch a few individuals destroy what we have collectively built over the years. Discipline, fairness, and unity must be upheld at all times. We respectfully await the leadership’s swift action”.
