Sam George overstepping bounds with job terminations – Mpraeso MP

Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has slammed Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, for axing nearly 100 Ghana Post staff.
Opoku deemed the move “inappropriate” and questioned President John Dramani Mahama’s “resetting theme” during a Citi FM interview on March 25.
The minister justified the terminations, citing recruitment irregularities and a broader effort to streamline operations.
However, Opoku argued that the decision unfairly targets employees hired through legitimate means, setting a worrying precedent for the country.
“I think the minister is overstepping his bounds, and I wonder if this whole resetting is necessary to the extent that people whose employment dates back before December 7 are even getting their employment terminated.
“These are not political appointments; these are persons who went through the proper HR processes as laid down in these various agencies and got employed. So what precedent are we setting in this country?” he questioned.
