Three Chinese, Ghanaian arrested over alleged galamsey on River Pra

Four individuals, including three Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian, have been arrested by National Security operatives for suspected illegal mining activities along the Pra River in the Western Region.

The suspects, who were allegedly operating under the guise of sand winning, were apprehended near Supom-Dunkwa in the Shama District. They have been handed over to the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi.

According to Hashem Tankonu, the National Security operative who led the operation, illegal miners have been using sand winning as a cover for their activities. “They set up a facade of sand winning, but in reality, they are engaging in galamsey,” he explained.
