WR: Traders devastated as fire destroys goods worth millions of cedis at Inchaban Market

A devastating fire outbreak at the Inchaban Market in the Shama Municipality of the Western Region has destroyed properties worth millions of Ghana cedis. The incident, which occurred around 3:00 am on April 9, has left affected traders reeling as they assess their losses.
As the second-busiest market in the municipality and a hub for the clothing trade, Inchaban Market was transformed into a scene of tragedy when the fire broke out. At least 10 shops were destroyed, plunging many traders into despair and uncertainty.
Eyewitnesses credited the timely intervention of firefighters with preventing a potentially far worse situation, particularly given the predominantly wooden construction of surrounding structures.
This incident marks the first recorded market fire in the Western Region, amidst a recent surge in similar incidents across the country. It has sparked renewed calls for the construction of a safer, more suitable marketplace for traders in the area.
